Terms of Service

Effective July 24, 2026

These terms govern your use of The Hackathon Company platform. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

Your account

You sign in with Google and are responsible for activity on your account. You must provide accurate information and be legally able to enter into these terms. We may suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion, including for conduct that harms the platform, its events, or other users.

Your content

You keep ownership of the projects, applications, and other content you submit. By submitting content, you grant The Hackathon Company a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, host, store, reproduce, display, and share that content for the purposes of operating and promoting the platform and its events — for example, showing your project to hosts and judges, listing it in event galleries, and featuring it in promotional material.

Events

Hackathons on the platform are run by their hosts. Hosts decide applications, judging, and prizes; we provide the platform and are not responsible for host decisions or event outcomes.

Hosting — Students vs Enterprise

Students may host free events after verifying a .edu school email. Student events are limited to under one week, at most 200 applications, and require verified .edu emails for applicants. Those access rules cannot be turned off.

Companies and startups use the Enterprise path: book a call with our team, agree on a plan, then we unlock hosting. Self-serve company challenges are not available without that sales process.

Acceptable use

  • Don’t break the law or others’ rights.
  • Don’t submit content you don’t have rights to.
  • Don’t interfere with the service, other users, or events.

Third-party services

The platform uses Google sign-in and Firebase. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms and policies.

Disclaimer

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Hackathon Company is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or participation in events.

Changes

We may update these terms at any time. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. Continued use of the platform means you accept the updated terms.
